Passwords

Password Criteria

Passwords require 6-8 alphanumeric characters, except for Washington.

Washington Password Criteria

For Washington, passwords must be 8-10 alphanumeric characters and include one upper case letter, one lower case letter, one number, and one symbol. They cannot have more than two of the same characters in succession.

Forgotten/Expired Passwords

A user can reset a Forgotten or Expired Password using their Default Password.

Expiring Passwords

A password must be changed every 45 days or it will begin expiring. An expiring password can be changed by using the Change Password page.

Temporary Passwords

If the user’s password is expired (after 60 days), an administrator can issue a temporary password by using their PIN. A PIN is a 4-digit user-created number that should be easy to remember, but difficult for others to guess.

A user can also set a Default Password so if their password expires, they can use it to get a Temporary Password.

Default Passwords

After a Default Password has been created and saved in the system, users can reset their own expired or forgotten passwords online.

Failed Passwords

If a password is entered incorrectly three times, it will Fail out and will need to be reset manually using the Temporary Password page or by calling the SambaSafety Help Desk.
